Collossal Gloss for Not A Lot o’ Coin

these days in particular, I don’t wanna break the bank(s) — they’re broke enough as it is. So instead of going all out on an old favorite, Stila’s Lip Glaze, I opted for a bargain basement substitute, e.l.f.’s Hypershine Lipgloss. At only $1 (yep, I said ONE dollar), these Stila stand-in’s are a perfect guilty pleasure that you don’t have to feel guilty about.

Primed for Perfection

I recently had the good fortune to sample Arbonne’s Virtual Illusion Make-up Primer. I’ve used dozens of primers, and frankly never really understood why people wore them. After sampling Arbonne’s, now I get it!

Makeup tips and skin care help for dry eyelids from ELLE.com

Outer-corner creases and under-eye circles are obvious places to dab your eye cream—but your lids and brow bone need love too! And if you wear powder eye shadow, subbing in a moisturizing alternative during the colder months could help. For starters, try Paul & Joe’s Limited Edition Spring Eye Color Palette: The hyaluronic acid, jojoba oil, orange flower water, rosemary extract, and white lily extract in these shadows help smooth out those fine lines on your lids.

Blushing beautifully: A recipe for cherubic cheeks

This morning I was getting ready for my day with a simple, clean daytime look and, even in my enormous collection of blushes and cheek tints, that I didn’t have that “just right” color to set off my clean eye makeup including simple almost-black liquid liner, perfectly groomed brows and neutral lids.

Well I found the right color — Face Atlier’s Perfect Blush in Pink Satin — but in a powder, which, for me, don’t last through the day. In fact, I’m lucky to make it to lunch without looking sallow and sad. To top it off, I’m one of those people who doesn’t like to touch-up.

My solution: craft my own long-lasting cheek tint!

Into the lid of a leftover mineral makeup sample (I get lots of those), I added about 1/8 teaspoon of plain glycerine. Then, using a sterilized metal nail file, I scraped a little of my lovely Face Atelier blush into the glyercine. If I was to guess, I’d say I all in all, I ended up with a little over a “dash” of blush powder. BTW, in cooking terms a dash is a little more than 1/16 teaspoon and less than 1/8.

$7 Mascara: No Clumps, Long Lashes

Maybelline Lash Stiletto goes on smoothly, coat after coat — and the more coats the longer your lashes. The first time I used it, I held back and only applied a couple of coats — reason is, I’m always a little nervous trying new mascara. As a contact lens wearer, I almost always end up with dark smudges or flakes under my eyes after a couple of hours, especially if the product isn’t water-proof. But Lash Stiletto went the distance. Plus, it washed away easily when I was ready to take it all off.

The following Fountain-of-Youth serum is one that can be used by itself but [...]

Mouthing off about Light Beam

I have to mention my experience with a new lip gloss. I’m a lip gloss fanatic (I won’t say ‘junkie’ just because I don’t endlessly apply, I’m just obsessed with the stuff, k?). I got a tube (or cube is more accurate) of Rimmel’s Light Beam gloss, and I LOVE it! The packaging is absolutely [...]
